I'm about eight inches into the body of Tempting right now:

While the K2P2 ribbing is a little annoying, it is kind of mindless. Here's what I've learned so far:

1. Even when you're SURE you didn't twist your stitches- you still might have.
2. Ripping back after only knitting an inch sure is frustrating, but it's useful if you take that time to "try the piece on" to see how it would fit...and when it fits BADLY, you can go down a size.
3. You can also correct that stupid mistake you made of not having the correct needles- Size US9, 29 inch circs, are NOT appropriate for knitting Tempting. Neither are your US8, 29 inch circs
4. That really made me want to own a set of Denise Interchangeables.
5. In leiu of the Denises, I love me some Inox needles.

Ok, as you can tell, I'm striping my Tempting. I saw a great post on LiveJournal with a striped green and cream colored Tempting, and I fell in love with it. So I changed the main body color to brown, and instead of one colored stripes, went with light baby blue large stripes, and two small cream. The yarn is GGH Samoa, which I really love. And, as much as I love how Tempting looks with the ribbon, I realize I am not a bow girl. (If I was to get married, there'd be no bow on the butt gown for me) I love the Tempting ribbon, but I know I would never wear it. So I'm omitting it, and tightening the neckline a little. And I've set a goal of having this to wear on Mother's Day (and probably just jinxed it, but I WILL have it!!), so wish me luck!

A Little Administration

Just wanted to let you guys know that I haven't fallen off the face of the earth. My web host has been awful the last few days so I've had spotty access to my e-mail to add new members and respond to any questions. If you still want to join or have suggestions for additions, please let me know. You can leave a comment here or send e-mail to sarah AT criminalgrace DOT com.

Hi everyone!

I have been working on Tempting for a while. After about 6", I was really hoping I was getting close, but no luck. After a while, you just want to stop the whole k2, p2!

Anyway, I have attached the sleeves. The tricky part was trying to figure out how you really needed to work with the waste yarn when adding the sleeves to the body. If you have questions, I found a couple of good posts about it and added them to my web site. Now that they are on, I cannot wait to graft the armpit. Sort of drives me crazy with it just hanging there!

Just joined

Hi all,
I'm Wanda and this is my first time ever being a part of a knit-along and I'm very excited to join. I actually was looking at the 2005 Knitalongs list and found the Tempting KAL. I started my Tempting right around the weekend of the 15th without even knowing about this, which is pretty cool. Not too much to say. I really like this pattern and I'm making mine out of Katia Bufalo, which is 100% nylon. It kind of looks like a ribbon yarn and it's is very soft. I've never knitted with it before, but I bought it at my LYS in a clearance sale sometime last year. I'm pretty proud of myself making a project from stash. I usually just buy more yarn. Anyway, here's a picture of my progress thus far:

The color is a dusky blue. I was messing up on the ribbing quite a bit initially and had to frog it a few times, but not all the way back, but a few rows. I seem to be doing ok (for now) on the ribbing and am about 6.75 inches on the body right now.

That's all for now. I will try to post an update later in the week. And you can always check my blog for more info too. I'm happy to be a part of this KAL.

Finished but not happy...

Hi everyone,

Well I finished as planned but I'm not real happy with the result. The neckline worked out fine but the body seems a bit long to me. What do you think? Go on over here and let me know.

Just joined and almost done!

Hi everyone!

I just joined the knitalong when a friend pointed it out to me yesterday even though it looks as though I'll be finished in a couple of days. I'm using Lion Brand Cotton Ease and I've done a couple of modifications. I made the body about an extra inch long and I made the sleeves about an inch longer too. I'm fairly tall so I wanted the extra body length and I'm just not a fan of "cap" sleeves.

Not sure what to do about the neckline yet. I thought I'd just make a longer yoke and let the ribbon hold it all in. I don't want it to be quite as off the shoulder as it was written to be. I'm hoping to be able to use this for work. You can read more about it on today's post on my blog. Any thoughts?

I'm seriously thinking about making another one of these in black for concerts so I'll be really interested to see what modifications and yarns everyone else uses.

Thanks for letting me join!

Today's the Day

Even though our knit-along officially starts today, feel free to join in whenever you have time. Tempting promises to be a pretty quick knit, so I hope to see a few finished sweaters here by the end of the month!
